You do not need to see one of us for individual therapy, we are always willing to work with the treatment team you already have in place, and are diligent about consistent communication with your other care providers.
Patients are required to attend an individual assessment prior to joining groups, and all classes have rolling admission.
Our DBT skills classes are focused on enhancing clients’ capabilities by teaching them behavioral skills. The class is run according to Marsha Linehan’s syllabus, following the DBT skills training manual and using Linehan’s DBT Skills Workbook. The group leader and co leader teach the skills and assign homework for clients to practice using the skills in their everyday lives. 24/7 skills coaching is provided to all members of skills classes. Our classes cover the four modules of DBT: mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. After completing and graduating from skills class, we offer graduate level DBT groups for those interested.
Skills classes meet once a week for 90 minutes. The format is 5-10 minutes of mindfulness, 10-20 minutes of homework review, a short break and then the remainder of the time is didactic skills teaching. DBT skills classes are not process groups, and as such, we do limit the amount of time that clients have to discuss personal issues. Adult skills classes are currently offered on Monday and Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings, adolescent skills class is on Wednesday evenings and Graduate Group is offered during the day and in the evening on Wednesdays.
All skills classes are run by Suzanne Wallach, Rachel Jones, Daniele Lewin, Angelique Poisson, Molly Ackerly, Lucy Swank and Ethan Sapienza.
